Status Overview
Each functional area has its own statuses. Statuses for inbound processing identify the current processing state of a receipt or receipt detail line; statuses for outbound execution perform this task for a shipment or a shipment detail line. For both functional areas, the status is defined on the detail line. As different processes are committed against that detail line, its status changes. The header record, either the receipt or the shipment, identifies the most and least advanced statuses assigned to its detail lines. This allows you to quickly assess the general status of the entire receipt or shipment.

Statuses are defined per functional area. A functional area is a processing module with a defined goal, such as outbound execution. Statuses cannot be shared by multiple functional areas.
A status indicates the processing state of a a header record and its detail line. For inbound processing, the status is defined at the receipt detail line; for outbound processing, the status is defined at the shipment detail level. The system uses statuses to determine what activity can be committed against the header record (receipt or shipment).
What is a Status?
A status has three components: the status name, the status number and the internal status name. Below is a brief description of each value.
The status name is displayed on screen: it reflects the activity occurring to the status number. For the user, it indicates the current state of the detail record. The status name also appears on the following records:
for inbound processing: receipt and container.
for outbound execution: shipment, shipment detail and container.
The status number is the internal identifier for the status. It determines when the status should be processed, in relation to other statuses in the status flow. Status numbers are processed in numeric order: status number 100 is processed before status number 200, etc.
The internal status name can determine what processes occur when a status number changes. You are not required to use an internal status name: it is for internal use only. This value cannot be added or changed. |
