●up in arms = angrily protesting愤怒抗议
★She told she didn’t want to work late-she was really up in arms about it.
  她说她不愿意加班-对此她真的极力反对。

●with one arm tied behind one’s back = very easily很容易地
★I could bake a better cake with one arm tied behind my back!
  我可以轻而易举地烘烤出一只更好的蛋糕。

The boss didn't argee to pay  raise to me, so I was up in arms  about it.
2 with one arm tied behind one’s back
I could solve the problem with one arm tied behind my back.

I thought she would be up in arms after being laughed at by us, but she just smiled and walked away.

You'd better not to annoy him, or you will be killed by him with one arm tied behind his back.

★When I said I would go back and work for him, he welcomed me with open arms.
  当我说我将回去为他工作时,他热烈地欢迎我去。

◆armchair
●armchair traveler = somebody who reads or watches films about overseas places but does not actually visit them足不出户的神游旅行者(通过阅读或看电影)
★He pretends to know about the best restaurants in Athens, yet he’s only an armchair traveler.
  他自称熟悉雅典最好的饭店,然而他实在只是一个足不出户的神游旅行者

No matter which country's people travel to our place, we should welcome them with open arms.

Since I have no money to travel abroad, I would like to be an armchair traveler.

Oh, really?
我看到这样一句:
With the pay raise of 50%, she is still determined to leave this company.
这里也出现了pay raise字样,但是和你说的pay raise的用法是不一样的。
嗯,我也不知道究竟有没有“pay raise”表示加薪的说法。

小新,出现一下,来说说你的看法吧。

pay raise = salary increase = pay rise = increase in wages
作为一个名词性的短语表示加薪,同日语中的「昇給」。

The boss didn't argee to pay  raise to me, so I was up in arms  about it.
↑不过名词性短语用在这里显然是不合适的,可以考虑该成:

The boss didn't agree to raise my salary, so I was up in arms  about it.

●to have been around = to be experienced, worldly-wise<口>见过世面;老于世故
★You can’t fool her easily, she’s been around too long.
  你不可能轻易地欺骗她,她世面见得太多了。

●in arrears = behind with payment(s)拖欠
★I don’t know how I’m going to pay – I’ve been in arrears with my rent for three months now.
  我不知道我将如何付清-我的房租至今已拖欠了3个月。

◆arrest
●(under)house arrest = being compelled (by official order) to remain in one’s home被软禁
★The police did not take her away, but she was put under house arrest until the time of her trial.
  警察没有把她带走,但是她被软禁了,等待审讯。

★They put him under arrest and took him to the police station, where they charged him with stealing a car.
  他们逮捕了他,把他带到了警察局,警方指控他盗窃汽车。

◆arrive
●arrive at = reach by a process of thought it, deduce作出;得出
★I thought it over for several days before finally arriving at a decision about the job offer.
  我考虑了好几天后才最后决定是否接受那个就业机会。

●as if/as though = as it would be if好似,好像,仿佛
★He talks as though he knew all about it.
  他说话的口气好像这件事他全都知道了。

★I wanted to buy another car but as it is I’ll have to keep the old one a bit longer.
  我想再买一辆汽车,但实际上我得再用一段时间旧车。

●as it were = metaphorically speaking可以说
★When he said that, she went for him like an angry bull, as it were.
  当他说了那话时,她仿佛像一头发怒的公牛向他冲了过来。
