breathe down somebody’s neck = watch somebody (too) closely监视
I wish the foreman would stop breathing down my deck.

breathing space = pause (for recovery)休息，喘息的机会
I’m looking forward to a breathing space when my children go back to school.

I’ve mowed the front lawn, and I’m just taking a breather before tackling the back lawn.
我已刈了前面的草坪，待我休息一下后就去刈后面的草坪。
