We missed the bus but it turned out to be a blessing in disguise because it was later involved in a collision with a lorry.

count one’s blessings = recognize favorable factors (among unfavorable ones)在不利因素中认识有利因素
You had a bad bout of flu but you can count your blessings it didn't turn into pneumonia, like mine did.

We were not going to take a holiday this year but we were passing the travel agents and on a blind impulse went in and booked a fortnight in Thailand for next month.
