When mother saw the mess on the new carpet, she blew a gasket.
母亲看到新地毯被弄得又乱又脏时勃然大怒。

When father came home and saw it I thought he was going to blow his top.
父亲回家看到这时，我想他会火冒三丈的。

blow away = (the wind,etc.) move away/be carried by the wind, or dissipate（风等）吹走；被风吹起；驱散
The wind blew away the clothes that were hanging on the line.
风把挂在绳子上的衣服吹掉了。

All caution is blown away in the excitement.
人激动时就忘乎所以。

blow down = throw/blow to the ground, or demolish by blowing吹倒，吹落；吹毁，炸毁
The storm blew down many trees yesterday.
昨天暴风雨吹倒了许多树。

The explosion blew several buildings down.
好几座建筑物给炸毁了。

blow hot and cold = be alternatively enthusiastic/friendly and then the reverse冷热无常；对•••忽喜忽厌
One day she talks to you and the next day she ignores you-always blowing hot and cold.
头一天她同你讲话，第二天便不理睬你-她老是这样喜怒无常。

blow in = (the wind,etc.) move in/(cause to) implode/burst in, or arrive casually/drop in to visit unexpectedly（风等）把•••吹进；（使）向内爆炸；突然来到；突然来访
A lot of dust blew in.
许多灰尘刮进来了。

Blow in anytime you like; we shall always be pleased to see you.
你随便什么时候来吧，我们总是高兴见到你的。
