借这个机会和大家温习一下宾语从句

●宾语从句在复合句中作主句的宾语。宾语从句通常由下面一些词引导。
1.由that引导（that在口语或非正式文体中常省略）。
2.由what, when, where, which, who, how, why等连接代词或连接副词引导。
3.由连词whether或if引导（口语中常用if）。

●应注意的几个问题：
1.宾语从句可放在形容词后。常用形式是“be+形容词+宾语从句”
①I am glad you like it.
②I'm sorry that you didn't pass the exam.

2.宾语从句与主句时态的一致。
(1)主句是现在（或将来时态时），宾语从句可根据实际需要用不同的时态。
①He says Mary is playing with the cat.
②He says Mary often plays with the cat.
③He says Mary will play with the cat.
④I think he left yesterday morning.
(2)主句时态是一般过去时，从句要用过去时态的某种形式。
①He said Mary was playing with the cat.
②He said he hoped to be back soon.
(3)当从句所表示的是客观事实或客观真理时，该从句都用一般现在时，不用过去时。★★★
①He said light travels much faster than sound.

3.宾语从句中的否定前移。如果主句谓语动词是think, believe, suppose等，而从句的意思是否定的，这时主句的谓语动词用否定式，从句用肯定式。
①I don't think you are right.我认为你不对。
②I don't believe he will give up.我相信他不会放弃的。

4.将特殊疑问句变成宾语从句时，从句的语序要用陈述语序，标点符号由主句决定。
When will the meeting begin? ⇒I want to know when the meeting will begin.

5.将一般疑问句变成宾语从句时，则用if/whether（是否）连接，同时变成陈述句语序。
Are you an English teacher? ⇒ He asked if I was an English teacher.
在下列情况下只能用whether
①介词后的宾语从句 I am thinking about whether we should go fishing.
②宾语从句提前时 Whether this is true or not, I can’t say.
③直接与or not连用时 I don’t know whether or not he was ready.
④在带to的动词不定式前 She hasn’t decide whether to go or not.
★if也可引导条件状语从句，表示“如果”(主将从现，主过从过)。
比较：
I don’t know if he will come.
If he comes, I will tell you.

6.在变宾语从句时，要注意以下几点。
(1)连接词(2)人称(3)语序(4)时态(5)标点

agree on = reach a harmonious understanding about对…取得一致意见
They agree on these terms.
他们一致同意这些条款。

agree to = accept an idea/opinion, etc.(esp. after argument)
同意想法、意见等（特别在争论后）
After much agreement, her advice was finally agreed to.
几经争论，她的意见总算被采纳了。

Her father didn't agree to the marriage.

agree with = have the same opinion as , or accept or coincide with 同意，赞成；与…一致
I am afraid I shall never agree with you about corporal punishment in school.
我恐怕永远不会同意你要在学校中实行体罚的意见。

agree to differ = agree(amicably) to a difference of opinion（和睦地）同意各自保留不同意见（不再说服对方）
I thought it would take three weeks, she said four, so we agree to differ.
我认为这将需要三个星期，而她说要四个星期，于是我们同意各自保留不同的意见。

one-sided agreement = agreement that favors one party but not the other 于单方面有利的协议
It was a one-sided agreement : he got the right of way over my land but I was still forbidden to cross over his fields.
这是一份与单方面有利的协议：他有从我地里走过的权利，而我仍然不被允许从他的地里穿过。

ahead of  = in advance of; better than在…前面；早于，先于；优胜于，超过
He studied all the time, because he wants to stay ahead of his fellow students.
他整天学习，因为他想要领先于他的同学。

China used to be forced to reach some one-sided agreements in the past.

It's cruel that children die ahead of parents.

in aid of = for the help/benefit of 为帮助；作…之用
What’s that new machine in aid of?
那台新机器究竟派什么用场？

I’m collecting money in aid of starving children.
为帮助饥饿的孩子们，我正在搞募捐。

air
airs and graces/put on airs = affectation/adopt an affected manner做作的姿态，装腔作势
I cannot stand his airs and graces – he is, after all, just an ordinary person like us.
我不能容忍他装腔作势-他毕竟同我们一样只是普通的人而已。

ps: Until now we have learned three different ways to say “装腔作势”. Can you tell them all?

( I think there is a better word to replace "cure", but I can not get it.....)

Some stars like to have airs and graces considering themselves the king of the world.

airy-fairy = dreamy but impractical 想象出来的；不切实际的
He was supposed to give us advice, but all he came up with were airy-fairy ideas.
他应该给我们提些劝告，但他所想出来的一切却是不切实际的。

(you could) cut the air with a knife = there was an atmosphere of tension/resentment紧张[怨恨]的气氛
After he told the meeting that he would no longer give his support to the project, you could cut the air with a knife.
在他告诉与会者他将不再支持这一项目后，会场上便产生了一种紧张的气氛。

dance/walk on air = be in a state of ecstasy欣喜若狂
When I heard that I had got the job I could have walked on air.
如果我得知我已得到了那份工作，我会欣喜若狂的。

give oneself airs = show off, try to impress/claim to be what one is not炫耀，卖弄；装腔作势
He’s not really that good-he’s only giving himself airs.
他并不真的那么好-他只是装装样子罢了。
