We have to book in before twelve o’clock, or the hotel will let the room go to somebody else.
我们必须在12点以前办理登记手续，要不然旅馆会把房间让给其他人的。

bring somebody to book = find evidence to arrest/try/punish somebody审查；盘问；严责
It's about time those muggers were caught and brought to book.
该是把那些行凶抢劫者抓起来审讯的时候了。

她不愿同我讲话，由于某种原因，我不讨她喜欢。

He has a lot of influence so it's worth keeping in his good books.
他很有影响，因此讨他喜欢是值得的。

in one’s book = in one’s own opinion<口>按某人个人看法
In my book Walter is the best assistant we’ve ever had.
